G71 will be very powerful, G80 will be unbelievable!

xpentor just gave me an eye catching attention over their latest rumor section. Here is one of them:

"In the G80 however, Quad SLI it self can be implemented on a single card with two chips solution because it will carry the first dual core GPU ever with the support of DirectX10 and Shader Model 4.0. The development of G80 is also mentioned as being running very intensive since Nvidia's acquisition over ULi."

The question is now what if this is true? What are you going to do ATI?

What's the Problem? -The real News (if it is true) is about Dual-Core GPU.
IMHO thats a cost/yield decision and not a pure Performance one. You can have same Performance by doing a big complex Single-Core or by doing 2 smaller and simpler Cores...
That alone says nothing about Performance.

Even if I hope G80 will be a good one - keeps Competition high and us Users happy ;)

How often have we heard this "omg xxx will be unbelievable" rumor?

People need to understand THERE'S NO SUCH THING as a dual-core GPU. There'd be NO POINT in it. Essentially, any GPU with more than one of the things needed to draw a pixel on the screen is a dual-core (or multi-core) GPU.

Those nvidiots who are now expecting to see a revolutionary ATi-squashing dual-core G80 need to get ready for a big disappointment.
