Frames Per Second: Fact & Fiction

Just got word that Mikhailtech have posted a one page article called Frames Per Second: Fact & Fiction! Here's a byte from their article.

One day I got to thinking about all this FPS (Frames Per Second) business. There is so much talk about what's right, what's wrong, what can be and can't be seen. Considering I knew next to nothing aside from personal experience, I thought I'd do a little research and give a little fact and fiction. Many people argue about what makes a difference and what doesn't, specifically what the human eye can perceive. Some claim 24fps, others 30, some 60, some 200, some even upwards of 2000 and above. Feel free to add any numbers in-between. The truth of the matter is, every one of these people is right and wrong in their own respect. Why?

Well, I find video encoded at 15 fps just fine to watch, but only if not intense action. So 30 is actually the bestf. 60 is just nuts and requires way to much overhead, and anything higher would only be good to aliens I guess. lol

All what matters is the 'fluidity' of a movement. A very slow moving object is just fine at 15fps, but if there's some highspeed object (like a rocket flying by incl a camera pan), you would need a way higher framerate, to make it look fluid. Motion blur is in the end just a trick to fool the eye, and on a few scenes it just looks stupid.
