Umm, haven't we been looking at screenshots of UT3 for over a year now? How does this qualify as "The First"?

All I want to know is, what's a Thumpnail?

Can't help but wonder if maybe the 'b' has had a little too much to drink...............

when will they listen and respect the hardcore fps gamers again?

after UT1 they totally abandoned the original UTgamers with the introduction of gay vehicles and turrets

if I want vehicles I'll buy a racing game and if I want turrets I'll buy something else ffs

this is no fps anymore at least not for the hardcore fps'er but only slow gameplay for the 14-18 year old

wtf has a tank to do with an fps, forget skills you don't need them anymore

Do you have any idea how boring a straight fps would be with just picking up guns and ammo? Still playing shitty Quake 3 I bet.

There are other game modes that you can play. The advantage of UT is that it incorporates all play styles ranging from plain deathmatch or 1v1 to tactical missions with vehicles and turrets. So, what's the problem?

Since when does the age of a game in any way affect its gamplay?

imo, Quake3 has never been shit and never will be. Likewise later UT titles don't come close to Tribes. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's not fun.

Well I understand the arguments from you guys but can't you see the gameplay has slown down with every new UT release

even epic games said they are thinking about making smaller maps(to get some speed back)

Epic hasn't made a good game since UT.

I agree, epic should have just made the sequels to UT exactly like the original with the exception of better graphics and smoother netcode, tweak the weapons a bit, include punkbuster etc etc

UT2003 just plain sucked ass, double jump gayness, adrenaline, they got the weapon balance right when the game was first released then they destroyed it with the later patches.
Then came UT2004, better maps but still the same old newbish crap that runs off skilled players only this time they included the vehicles to make it even more of a newbfest, a lot like ut2003 only way worse.

Gone are the days of skilled fps games from epic, everything has to be newbish crap, at least quake4 has some balls, unlike the horribly unbalanced quake3 was...

maybe Epic eventually will understand the success of Gears Of War is also a signal there is (still) a big demand for pure FPS

maybe GOW is the new UT, would be a pity but it's the only game which comes close to the original UT1
one of the reasons why I hope GOW comes to the PC

ultimately it would be great if they redo UT1 with 2008 graphics

seeing the success of GOW and the still large UT1 fanbase I'm sure UT1 with 2008 graphics would become a big success

Well the discussion seemed to be about PC titles, I have no idea if GoW is good or bad, game of the year awards don't mean squat to me, I have purchased other games that won goty awards and thought they sucked.

I never knew that actually

I always see pvp with guns in GOW and I never heard about vehicles or turrets

So I asume they don't play a big role in the game

I suppose it depends on what people consider a reliable source; a review mag/site or a person named Apathy.

Even better, go to proving grounds and check to see who was undefeated in DM 1 vs 1 for a solid 3 years (00-03) and then ask him.

Oh wait, that was a guy named Apathy (go check)
