First Retail 6800 Ultra Pics and Benchies

Naser @ tbreak forums have posted some pics of the MSI NX6800 Ultra, benchmarks coming soon...
quote:
"I only got time today to actually try it out & my first impression is its NOISY & the drivers on Nvidia site (56.72) does NOT support this card. I am sure it is faster then my 9800XT BUT will the performance diffrence reallly justify its price!? well i doubt it but theres only one way to find out.And im seriously more into games then benching. Farcry was awsome but even on my FX51+1GB Ram & the 9800XT (450/390) still runs like crap."

This guy is so far beyond biased it's not funny. SOOO many other people say how nice of a card it is, especially MikeC over @ nvnews (he's always flaunting his card off).

He's got an Athlon 64 FX51 and he says a "video card" is noisy?!? LOL.....unless he's running a water cooler setup, the video card is probably the least of his worries in the system he's using...

But then again, he does have enough $ apparently to shell out on a 6800Ultra, so he probably has a water cooling setup.

Regardless, it's obviously unsubstantiated ATI-biased crap.

I'm not sure why he's concerned about the drivers on the nvidia site not supporting the card since it ships with drivers that do support it.

Anyway, a guy that got his yesterday has been updating people at nvnews. He was going to get a XT-PE before the ultra was sitting in front of him and too much of a temptation to pass up. He seems pretty unbiased (goes back and forth b/w nvidia and ATI) and is reporting the good with the bad. Just look for a thread called My 6800 Ultra or something like that. The good news is that his overclocked to 450/1300. The bad is still Far Cry as it is for most nvidia card owners.

Well if you want improvemts in far cry, find the DX 9c thats out there, it makes a difference.

The install is a bit convoluted but its worth the effort.

Wasn't Nvidia going to release a driver today that would bring the farcry performance 30% up ?

It is a bit one sided, but the 6800U is loud. Its not 5800U loud but its loud.
