I get the feeling that this is a fake...
The pics don't look nearly as detailed as the previously released one.

Geez, I'm still getting shitty framerates from the detailed ogre cave and space-station in 2003. I was getting rediculously high framerates in 2001 by the time 2003 rolled around. I figured the technology scaled roughly every 2 years...so I hope this is fake.
I never even liked 2003 anyway. I enjoyed seeing 2001, especially after a hardware upgrade but 2003 seemed lame to me.

What is really sad is that most web sites that do benchmarks on games and other various benchmark programs almost never have a sound card installed. Some of the uber Web sites even show the system that they used with pictures and guess what all i see is a Agp Card and that its.

1 Dont believe the Hype.

2 How many gamers do you know that dont use sound cards?

3Benchmarking is nice to look @ and thats it.

No sound card means uber fast scores.

I remember seeing a Benchmark over at Toms Hardware that shows whats happens when you have a cheap Cmedia or old SBlive compared to SoundStorm and Audigy 2.

The difference is almost 30 FPS in some games. SoundStorm lost almost no FPS when sound was enabled and Audigy 2 lost maybe 5 or 10 FPS.

I'm hoping that the next 3Dmark actually uses sound when they benchmark and not some crap tests they do at the end.

Then again how many people actaully use 3Dmark to figure out what new hardware they need?

3d mark is dead.
no one who is really interested in true performence benchmarking is looking at it anymore. only the guys who want to show off.
but it still looks nice as a demo. they should rather make a screensaver out of it. that would be neat and useful.

So true. Turning all the sound quality settings down in UT2004 gets me 10fps extra. I was going to get some 5.1 speakers but it looks like I'm going to have to buy a better soundcard that won't kill my framerates :(
