ffdshow Alpha

ffdshow is DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing DIVX and XVID movies using libavcodec or xvid with rich set of video postprocessing filters. ffdshow can also be used as a separate postprocessing filter for other decoders.

Since I'm using it, I'm getting more fps while watching DivX/xVid. This is really impressive! Can't watch a movie without it by now ;)

ffdshow is great if you remember to uninstall all other divx/xvid codecs before installing it, I haven't come across one video it couldn't play. You just need to install some 3rd party audio codecs (ac3, ogg) and you'll never need to worry about finding codecs again. :D

to shroeder > this is definitely not 3 months old! 1st march 2003, can u read it ?

to Lithorus > dunno if previous versions are messing up with codecs but this version is perfect. i tried ffdshow on many computers and always obtained great results.

to Chicken > ffdshow uses the installed codecs so you'd better keep them ;) ffdshow is only a decompressing filter so that divx/xvid plays smoothly.

You do NOT need divx/xvid codecs with ffdshow. That's the whole idea of ffdshow, one decoder for all.
"ffdshow is DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing DIVX and XVID movies "

If you have installed xvid or divx codecs ffdshow will not act as a decoder but as a postprocessing filter.
Zanysmash, a bit weird from you that you don't even know what ffdshow does, yet you find it the best.

"Since I'm using it, I'm getting more fps while watching DivX/xVid"

That's even more weird, movies are encoded using a fixed fps. You cannot get more or less fps. If you have drop frames, buy a better computer.
