FarCry 1.2

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 07/05/2004 04:14 PM [ Print | 15 comment(s) ] · 4877 views

Driverheaven have just published their latest article, which looks at the performance and IQ (or lack of it) when using FarCry patch 1.2.

In a few hours Ubisoft/Crytek will be releasing the much anticipated patch for Farcry which upgrades the game to version 1.2. As per most game updates there are various performance tweaks and bug fixes however in FarCry 1.2 we have the addition of Shader Model 3.0 features for Geforce 6800 series cards.

Today we are going to take a short look at what performance increases you can expect from the patch, and how IQ is impacted ?if you?re a Radeon user the IQ section especially makes for interesting reading.

They pretty much mind up their stupid tiny minds when they published that dreadful Farcry article, a few months back.
Since then, I would NEVER take ANYTHING ATIHeaven says about Nvidia, without a huge grain of ATI bias, that they clearly have.
Shame really, what was once a great site, is now nothing more than a huge ATI biased webshite.
I only go there, now, for Driver cleaner.

em, i have something to say, but i have the same problems with my Albatron GeForce 5200P on my machine under certain Engine configuration with 1.1 patch, so im starting to think that maybe there is something wrong with the engine...
I have a MSI K7N2GL(Bios v4.0)+Albatron GeForce 5200P v56.72+WinXP Pro SP1+DX9.0B
I *think* (because now it does not flickes anymore) that when i put the details to medium, or something else, the textures in the ground (sand) start to flick, like it appears and dissapears very fast, and i think its the SAME problem that the guy at DriverHeaven has with the ATi Card. I would like to investigate the problem. AND i dont have any problem with my games, battlefield viet, ut2004, nfsu, splinter pandora, and more.....
so my conclusion is: investigate the problem because maybe its a bug from 1.1 and 1.2 in the engine under certain configurations....
my 2 cents!!

emm, im not very surprised that driverheavens bring ati cards down, its a nvidia site................ :S

Um, are you 14? Ha, ha, he, he. The article was about x800 users having issues /w the 1.2 patch. Hence, they shouldn't bother installing it. Kick in the teeth? Sure buddy, and an X800XTPE running 1.1 keeps up pretty well besides the GT 6800 gets bogged down /w PS 3.0. SLi..give me a break you can't even afford it. So ha, ha, te, he yourself nvidiot.

Still ati cant come up wit the same thing and call it SLi, so until then they cannt compete against that. Yes it may be expensive, but look @ the perforamnce you get outa that, like you could play a game with the graphics of Fianl fantasy spirits within with that kinda setup. Actually, when will they start making games with that kidna graphics? that what i wanna see.

Dunno what you read but ati still has the performance crown :)

SM3 will not improve graphic quality maybe a few speed gains.. but not much...

3dc will improve graphic quality somewhat and improve performance.

Sli while looks nice will cost so much and not many ppl will buy into it :)

If ati really wanted to compete with SLI "which they probably laugh at" all they would need to do is bring back MAXX :)

to me it looks like nvidia is saying they need two cards to beat ATI's one :)

X800 (PCI express version) can do a version of SLI actually. Its possible with any PCI express card, it just requires support. Wait a bit longer and you will see. Remember ATI rarely do meaningless paper launches like nvidia do, so they will announce it when they are ready to deliver it.

MAXX is not SLI. It is AFR. ATi cannot simply "slap in" AFR on the R3xx/4xx line.

Learn about the things you talk about before you talk about them.

If you could read that again, you will find an emoticon at the end, meaning it's a joke.

Some people will never learn. But they still call other people nvidiots etc. lol
Even if SLI costs a lot more than any ATI card, nvidia will still have the performance crown. what will the top5 computers in 3dmark 2003 be running? a lousy x800xt? no. they will have SLI'ed 6800 U(E)s. Plus nvidia cards have a much better overclocking potential, so the single 6800s will be in front of the x800s too. But well, somehow I understand that people are showing their ignorance towards nvidia now. they just switched to their new deity ATI because they have been the best around and now nvidia dares to be better again. yeah HOW DARE YOU, NVIDIA? lol

BetrayerX: You should learn the meaning of emoticons from the beginning again. :) doesnt nessecerily mean its a joke. especially not in this context.
