Many enthusiasts know how important it is to keep their systems cool. We have reviewed many heatsinks, fans and have always discussed temperatures, heat issues, airflow and other things that will aid in keeping a system cool. Have you ever wondered what happens to heat when the computer is shut down? Is it still there? Actually, it slowly dissipates and eventually your system returns back to its cool and idle system temperatures. Evercool didn?t think that heat was dissipating fast enough so they found a solution to fix that.
"Evercool introduced ECS ? Extended Cooling System. The idea behind ECS is to let your case fans and CPU fan run for ten minutes after you shut down your computer. This will aid in faster cooling hence, increasing the life span of your components. Let?s take a look at ECS and see if it?s worthwhile to purchase."

I was going to call this an entirely usless device, but to be fair--Anyone on the really far extremes of air-cooled overclocking may find this useful. In short, they tell you that yes, this is a device that keeps your fans going for about 10 mins after your pc is turned off.. I can see how an air-cooled system may need additional cooling, as with the sudden loss of all the fans on power-down could reduce the cooling enough to fry something (You'd really have to be running hot thought) - But hang on.. Who turns off their pc these days? :> |

...as the previous poster pointed out, who turns off their computer? : |

Once you turn off your computer, everything stops working. And when nothing is working, no heat is produced. It is impossible to fry your computer after turning it off. Once you turn it off it can only get cooler, not hotter. It is totally useless, not because no one turns of their computer (which what 90% do), but because devices dont create heat once they lose power. |
