Memory manufacturer Elpida today announced that it has shipped samples of the industrys first 2GB DDR2 registered memory modules. Elpida tells that these new DDR2 modules have a transfer rate of 4.3GB/s. This memory module contains thirty-six 512 Megabit DDR2 FBGA packed devices that run up to 533MHz. The modules also support 1.8V operation, according to Elpida this means a 50% power reduction over DDR400 memory.

Just because they drop to 1.8v doesn't mean you can overclock it any better. After all, old Pentium/K6 chips used to operate at what? 3.3v? You can't OC a P4 or Athlon to that |
