Meh. Todd H. has sorta shot down those April Doom 3 release date rumors in his latest .plant file (it wasn't directly implied, but you could hint at that). Who knows when it's coming out now... late 2004? (2 issues ago, GamePro posted a summary of Activisions fiscal year 2004, which most importantly outlined Doom 3 as a fiscal year 2005 title... it was mentioned that it would not necessarily mean the game was delayed until 2005, but according to GamePro, LATE 2004 seemed feasible).

Seeing all that, I'm not really excited about a benchie tool seeing as the D3 release date is floating in the air once again...

What I'm REALLY hoping will happen is id releases a MP Test like they did with Quake 3 before the final game arrives. Preferrably sometime soon. We would have a whole new barrel of stuff to talk about, like hidden goodies, MP strategies, console commands, tweaks, etc.

For me it would most likely tie me over until the full retail release of the game. I would probably even forget that the full game wasn't released yet. >_<

And please, all the Doom 3 flamers keep out of this thread. Threads like these that detail a specific game should let the fans discuss the game, not have a bunch of people flame it. IMO. I'm just saying cuz I could feel because a crowd is bound to attract and make 'HL2/S.T.A.L.K.E.R/FarCry comparisons blablabla etc.

I agree dzjepp.. The q3 demo was released about 3 months in advance before the game shipped..if I remember correctly. So going by that time frame, the D3 demo would've already been released (or right around this time) if id is planning on shipping the game in April.

Frankly, I think id must get sick and tired of companies out there posting implied or illegitimate release dates. The company has started over and over and over the "when it's done" phrase - yet companys like EB Games still insist on trying to make gamers believe a specific release date just so they can sell more pre-orders. =/

*shrug* I'm just hoping for a release before QCon 2004. id knows how much the community would love playing D3 at quakecon...so I would hope that they're making a strong effort to get it finished before August.

Hmmm... Physical year 2005 starts on October 2004. Could possibly come out late this year if that's correct.

Source?

Until I hear an official release date from id Software (not Activision), I won't pay attention to any of the claims other people/companies put out.
