If you are looking into surround sound be aware there are several solutions

This is just one of them

The best solution is still a complete and fully loaded surround speaker set

The next alternative are only the most expensive surround headsets(Sony has the most experience in this field)

After that I advice to look into a PC Creative Audigy sound card(entry level is already enough) with GOOD stereo headphones

Never buy cheap surround headphones, they just don't work

Sure you get 'some idea' of 'something surround' but that's not worth your money really

Lastly a new interesting development in the surround scene are sound projectors( >30 100% digitally driven speakers in 1 cabinet)

I happen to have one(Yamaha YSP 1000)

Now at the moment it's still 1 cabinet but it can do some amazing things

Sound - for the first time - can be completely controlled all the way to your ear(not kidding)

Here comes the next step, in a few years say 5 or more there will be surround speaker sets which can do the same thing as the current sound projectors

Which means sending 1 sound beam from every cabinet to 1 location(you) and nobody else can hear it...

My YSP can already do that(in beam mode) but since it's only 1 cabinet , it's still mono

In the future, headsets will only be used when on the move

*On a personal note I happen to be an audiophile so I like to read, write about and own nice audio things

If you have any question about buying audio stuff just ask
