Did Nvidia Hire People To Write FAKE Opinions On Forums?

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 02/06/2006 06:03 PM [ Print | 10 comment(s) ] · 2353 views

About a week ago, The Consumerist stumbled upon claims made by various gaming websites (specifically, Elite Bastards and Beyond3D) that graphics chip manufacturer Nvidia, in cooperation with the Arbuthnot Entertainment Group (AEG), had seeded various gaming and PC hardware enthusiast sites with pro-Nvidia shills.

That is to say, that AEG would hire employees to create ?personas? in various gaming communities, slowly building up the trust of other members by frequent posting unrelated to Nvidia, to later cash in that trust with message board postings talking up the positive qualities of Nvidia?s products.

Heh, it's a bit like the US paying to have pro US stories in Iraqi newspapers. Then again, is this dishonest or just advertising?

Why would either ATI or Nvidia pay for this. There are already so many "shill" fanboys on both sides I usually dread reading forums on videocards.

So, does that mean ATI is now paying him since he's advocating the Xbox 360 now and that uses an ATI card? ;)

Funnily enough, Microsoft's gaming division are another of AEG's customers...

C'mon BX, that's not fair. That's like saying, "Elite Bastards lets you express your opinion on their forums, but I could be wrong thou." Proof please.

BTW Hanners, I'm back on EB. One could say I flanked you and your cronies. I'll be watching. Let the fukers know to keep their mouth shut about Poppi and all will be cool. On any site...for that matter.

I don't respond well to threats...

If you give him/her cause to make a threat against you, you should take a look why.
Too many people hide behind their keyboard and some need to be chastised. You clearly have a 'background' that leaved something to be desired.

Perhaps you need to rethink how you present yourself.

Hanners, you don't respond well to almost anything. As you well know, what you define as a "threat" will be me defending myself as I have done in the past.

You don't have what it takes to be a site owner, especially one containing a forum. You willingly bow to the slightest of cronie pressure. Don't worry, they might grow back one day.
