DH 3D Tranquillity ScreenSaver Released

Posted by: NewsFactory on: 05/01/2003 12:36 AM [ Print | 9 comment(s) ] · 4318 views

Just got word from Zardon at Driverheaven that their celebratory screensaver is now available to download!

The Tranquillity ScreenSaver was written by OpenGL guru Paolo Martella, better known to most as Bustard creator of GLEXCESS the renowned benchmark for OpenGL. The aim of this screensaver is to create a relaxed atmosphere while showing off that expensive hardware you may have!

The Tranquillity ScreenSaver is available in two flavours, a standard edition and an ATI enhanced version.

ATI Radeon 9700 PRO
Cat 3.2
DX9a

At 1280*1024*32 there is banding in the water and textures, and there are a lot of odd polygons in the water.

It's awesome, but needs some tweaking.

All you GF FX 5800 ultra owners use the ATI SS.
It looks much better and the FX runs it great.
The only draw back is it says ati on it. ;)

The screensaver is not at all what I thought it would be. It's buggy, the textures (background) look washed up, etc. I have triangle like artifacts in the water (where the reflection of the sphere should be), and my friend has blocky artifacts. I have r9500, and my friend has r8500. Are all radeon owners experiencing these artifacts?

The music is indeed simply beautiful. I only hope to hear more music from VG...
