If you?re going to stick a new number next to the title of something you released last year, make sure you actually have something new to add. If it?s just an updated graphics engine, or the addition of less than two new features, then it?s either called an expansion pack, a mod, or a total conversion.
If it?s not a full-fledged sequel, then get your ratty little claws out of my wallet. If there?s not a great new storyline, if the number you?re putting on the box is higher than 3, (or if it says Turok anywhere in the title) then you can probably skip it, slick. We?ve seen enough. If you want fifty bucks outta me, try releasing an entire GAME.

It's not as though console makers aren't doing that, too. How many Ratchet and Clank/Jak clone games and sequels have their been again? I think the problem with PC games is that there isn't as much variety to begin with. I'd wager that the VAST majority of PC games fall into 3-4 genres (simple puzzle/web, FPS, RTS) so the problem is much worse. |

The Ratchet and Clank & Jak games for the PS2 are among the best 3D platformers of this generation hence the praises it receives from both the gaming mdia and the consumer. |

indeed ... it like beeing forced to download game illegally from the net because so many ppl. go buy a game and simply are frustrated of having bought it because it simply sucks ass .... same for me too not long ago .... I wanted to buy "the fall" because these fallout like games are kinda fun from time to time ... and I bought a copy from eBay but before I got it I managed to get a copy from a friend and even tho I patched it right to 1.6.5 which was a huge patch already it simple was a pain in the ass to see how much things you can do wrong without noticing it ?!? thank god that guy from ebay never delivered it the best off all games are those where even the installer does not work ... I sometimes feel like beeing a real beta tester ... I know there are hundrets of thing you oversee when coding since it simply is too much for a single person to fully oversee ... but things that are so extremely obvious that you can't even play the game or only by downloading fixes is simply ...... can't even find a word for that ... I think most of the money for a game is spend to copy protect it ... thats the most important part ... but that its a quality production for a REASONABLE PRICE !!! 50€ are unnormal |

I'm not saying they aren't - but they're still nothing new...and there are about a dozen games that use the same engine and mechanics. I've completed #1 and #3 of R&C and the first Jak game and they feels like a rehash to me. Just some texture tweaks. Kind of like how Tomb Raider #2 was just like #1 except the textures went from caves to buildings. It's no different than having expansion packs, FPS clones using the same engine, etc. that's plaguing the PC. Right now we're in a gaming glut. People are cranking out the same 'ol thing for sequels because they know they can sell it based on name alone. Unless a company manages to have a huge marketing push (a la God of War)...we're not seeing many original games making much money. |

Well part of what makes a good 3D platformer are the characters...platformers with appealing characters are the most successful (hence the reason why R&C, Jak, Mario, Phsyconauts, Beyond Good & Evil, etc.) are successful. As for FPS games using the same engine there is nothing wrong with that bc it (a) cheaper for the studio and (b) means they have to spend less time (and money) developing their own engine. But you are right...not many companies are willing to take a chance now a days and part of that is b/c publishers only want stuff that will sell and make big bucks. At least companies like Capcom (with Viewtiful Joe and Okami) and Namco (with Katamari Damacy) will try new gameplay styles and designs. |

Hey dude...spell check: "beeing" is spelled "being" "hundrets" is spelled "hundreds" Oh and ever heard of a period? :-P Sorry bad spelling irritates me. |

That is one problem with PC games btw...they don't have to meet the strict standards and guidelines that Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft or console game publishers have. Once a PC game is done they can pretty much release a game and if the publisher is on the low-grade side then they won't do a full thorough test/examination of the title. |

I love BF2! But EA is a shitty developer. They release crappy patches. The game still runs like DOGSHIT. BUGS everywhere, and we had to wait how long for a patch that creates more bugs than fixes? The last patch....Wait didn't that thing crash half the computers playing it!???? Then EA didn't even post how too fix the dam problem! EA SUCKS! |

@c4_toky But if dumbasses like you stopped buying their games then they'd have to clean up their act. |
