Just spotted this @ Ritualistic.com:

They've gotten hands on the May issue of Computer Gaming World, featuring a well written two page preview of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. A handful of new screenshots is included along with many new details summarized below:

since CS:CZ is based on a tweaked version of the Half-Life engine and the Half-Life engine is itself a tweaked version of the quake 1 engine... yes, basically CS:CZ is in its roots based on the quake1 but it won't look like quake1, that's for sure...

no, it's definitely "based" on the quake1 engine but has been tweaked that much by valve that it actually more looks like the quake2 engine.

Half-Life has commonly been mistaken for the quake2 but valve only own a full quake 1 licence. That's why they released in their deathmatch classic mod only q1 maps and no q2!

CS CZ is based on unreal engine...

it looks nice, but april fools or not?

if it's based on the unreal engine, I'll surely get it, purely for the reason of having another unreal engine game :D
