Holy crap! Do I half to make a hand justure for it to play back HD also? Sorta ridiculous that it takes just the right hardware and have it configured just right for 'I the consumer to watch HD movies that is only better quality if using 50" HDTV or bigger."

This whole HD-DvD vs. Blue-Ray is a bunch of Crap! There are Dvd-Rom players that upscale the video quality that makes the picture equal to HD-DvD and Blue-Ray. This is just a way to rip off the consumers who don't know the difference. The only difference is disc space and more copyright protection. But the new protection already have been broken so it is now just disc space that have the advantage.

"There are Dvd-Rom players that upscale the video quality that makes the picture equal to HD-DvD and Blue-Ray".

That's just laughable. There are similar claims in the audio industry that some DACs can uppsample the audio to true 24/96/192 audio but that's just lies, you can't create truthful real data out of something less.

Toshiba was sued because of this Dvd-Rom upscale device. It was an accident, they had beta firmware in their standalone dvd players that they sold! True fact! Perhaps google it and find out more. Enough said.

It's sorta like this. You have an xbox game designed for the standard TV. But if you play it in the Xbox 360 you have the option to upscale that image to 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 1280 by 1024, ect, ect, ect, ect, ect, and ECT! You get it know?! Some people just dont get this concept. Yes it is upscaled and it looks so much better on high def. TV's and monitors.
