Just spotted this bit of news over at Futuremark.
There has been some discussion that some users find it difficult to install the new ATI Catalyst 3.7 drivers and the new Control Panel, if downloaded separately. The 24MB pack is said to be safe, but.. Here's a snip from our Discussion Board, posted by ChaoticBeauty:

I d/l the separate driver and CP. Used driver cleaner in safe mode after initially uninstalling the drivers in windows. Rebooted to windows and installed driver. Rebooted (don't usually). Installed CP, and NP! |

I installed the 24mb pack, and my computer is very slow. Did you said that you used a driver cleaner?? Can you give me a link, cause I can't find one for ati drivers... |

The driver disabled all d3d acelleration for my radeon 7000 and I couldn't get it enabled again. I installed 3.6 again and I got the same problem. To check if you have the same problem as me, first check if opening menus and such is very slow compared to how it usually is. Then turn down the hardwareaccelleration tab in display properties >> advanced one notch, apply and try opening a menu again. For me, it got back to normal by doing this. It still doesn't solve the problem of no d3d accelleration so I'll try that cleaner app and reinstall. |
