Bulldog offer 4MB ADSL for £30

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 07/04/2004 03:14 AM [ Print | 10 comment(s) ] · 4581 views

Uk-Bug.net reports that Bulldog have announced a new 4Mb service for their LLU customers, and yes, this is a "all the time" service - not just off peak only like some of their other offers.

Up to 400 kbps from your PC to the Internet (upstream bandwidth). That's nearly 65% faster than standard 256 kbps This service does not have a data download or upload limit There are no additional charges irrespective of usage

12 month contract. No thanks. There's no excuse for locking you in that long. It's not as if they're subsidizing anything like a mobile phone contract is.

We need someone in the UK to shake up the competition, although sounds like either the customers or bulldog themselves are a bit naive, if they think that upload service will last long, wait till it fills up with file sharers.

bulldog have always offered 400kbps upload and there's nothing to suggest they'll cease to do so

i have no idea what you're complaining about. £30 a month for 4mbit dsl, you'd have to be seriously wrong in the head not to take that offer up.

I'll gladly pay the same for 1mbit. Here in PR most "broadband services" offer 512k for a similar amount of money ($40-50 USA). There's one company with 3mbit but you have to pay almost $90 and is not in my area.

......guess I'll move on soon.

I'm complaining about the minimum 12 months contract. You see the bit where I said ā€œ12 month contract. No thanksā€ that sort of implies I'd rather it was a rolling one month at a time contract. That way I can leave if the service turns out to be rubbish.

I've got a Bulldog 576Kbps line - not LLU and failed the 2Mb line noise test :(
Mine is a rolling 1 month contract, they may do one for the 4Mb version, but if they do, the monthly charge/installation costs will prob. be higher.
Don't forget there are costs to setting up an account, so it's beneficial for them to keep you for a year.
They're reliable enough for a 1 year contract (I can't coz i'm moving soon).

HTH ;-p
