Be careful with Half-Life 2 Silver - Gold Purchase

Valve responed to a question as to what happens with your old cd keys eg: hl1, cs:cz, etc...

You will lose your old keys if you use the same account to purchase hl2! (read more for more info and the only solution)

You paid for hl1, just recently cs:cz, now you wont be able to use those cd keys!

Say you wanted to give your old keys to a brother or something now that you have another hl1 key (included with the hl2 package), now you wont be able to keep the old keys UNLESS you make a whole new account for hl2!

Hello,

You will not be able to transfer your old key. In order to achieve what you are describing, open a new Steam account, and purchase the Steam package with your new account.

I payed for a liscence to hl1, a cd key. When I buy hl2 silver package, i would like to keep my old hl1 liscence and not lose it when I gain access to the "back catalog" that i will get in the hl2 silver package... How will i be able to transfer my old liscence (cd key) to say another account? I dont want to lose the liscence for which i paid 50 dollars.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I can understand how busy you must be, and thanks for all of your work!

rofl!

- cs:s is crap, buggy, only half of the maps, etc
- delayed again
- hl:s doesnt even have good (new?) textures
- cs:s is the only multiplayer that comes with hl2, unless you PAY MORE for dod
- old cd keys get lost and youre screwed
- only available on dvd for $30 more
- did I say delayed again already?
- only playable online with steaming pile of shit

I laugh at those people who still adore that game like its their deity.

"Thank you for taking the time to read this, I can understand how busy you must be, and thanks for all of your work!"

ROFL!

um you can play offline... just hit "play offline" in steam. Additionally, bug off. This post was to alert people that they would forfeit their old keys if they registered on the same account, thus wasting the old keys. Please grow up, thanks.

Thanks for the heads up.

Why are they charging for DOD Source? Isn't DOD a free game? If you don't pay the additional fee, will you be able to download it for free either now or in the future?

Cheers,

AJC

They bought DoD as well as they bought CS.
Those MODS were once free, now they arent anymore. I guess thats also why the weapon names were changed to some idiot fantasy names and so many maps are missing, because of copyright.
I doubt you will be able to download dod later for free, since it is a part of the other packages only right now. thus trying to catch more blind users.

Dude, you can use teh same halflife key on multiuple accouts, i have 3 accounts with halflife & cs on them. So its not like getting HL2 silver kills your key, jsut make a new accoutn and put in your HL key and your good to go.
