µTorrent 1.1.6 Released

µTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients.

A problem was identified in 1.1.5's partfile implementation and fixed in 1.1.6 that caused partial data downloaded for SKIPPED files to be corrupt. Data sent from skipped files or later unskipped could be corrupt. We strongly advise users to force recheck their files if they had previously been in a SKIPPED state. This issue does not affect files which were not skipped.

Fix: Better multitracker support. Fix: When skipping files, it would corrupt the Partfile, resulting in hash fails. Fix: Disk Overloaded was shown too often. Change: Only show the "dangerous file" dialog when trying to open an executable file. Feature: The sorted column is now shown in a different color (Only after you clicked sort once) Feature: Create start menu shortcut the first time uTorrent runs. Feature: Show more info in the tray tooltip. Feature: Support lazy-bitfields, required for some ISPs, or seeding won't work. Feature: New page to setup advanced settings. Feature: Remember a peer's upload/download even if it reconnects. Feature: Support sparse files on NTFS (But please use this with care, it will fragment your drive).

Does anyone know why a new update of this appears every few days? Makes me wonder how good this thing really is!

I tried it and it keeps crashing on me. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and go to the Task Manager to turn it off. I am sticking with BitComet for the time being.

From what I gather it's still just a polished beta. The updates are nice, though. They're non-intrusive...they just auto-update the program when you open it. Because it's only 96k...the whole update is less than a second.
Give it a try and see what you think!

B/c the developer likes to squash the bugs as they arise rather than wait 6 months and squash them all at once. I prefer the fix as they are found versus a big release with a long time in between. He also has been adding some good features in. Its a great program, I have been using it for a few weeks and havent been having any issues.

Hes been very active with the app and hopefully he wont burn himself out and then the app dies. Vaporware sucks!
