Both ATi and nVidia have had issues supplying their top of the range cards to retail channels over the past few months, the most notable example being ATi's X800 XT. However, ATi have been shuffling their products around a bit recently, and now we have a new kid on the block: the X800 XL. Undercutting nVidia's 6800 GT by around $100, it could quickly become an extremly popular card. Hexus.net have a preview.

The card looks great, but they SERIOUSLY have to put out an AGP version of it and put it out soon too. |

I know that ATI has some sort of AGP/PCI-e bridge technology in development that might cause an AGP version to appear. I realize PCI-e is going to be the new standard but come on... there's not all that many machines out there with PCI-e yet. I can't believe ATI would not go after the AGP market. I think this is nuts. |

Agreed with the people looking for an AGP model. Seriously...how many people (enthusiasts included) actually have a PCI-E machine? They've really only even been making mobos and pre-built machines with them for a few months and I don't really know any adopters except people who had old mahcines and were going to upgrade anyway. I'd be willing to bet they're alienating 98% of the market like this. Oh well, I just got a 6800GT, so I guess I don't care much anyway, but recall the ComUSA employees pushing the PCI Express cards to people and acting like they were somehow getting a massive 30% performance boost from them...lol... |
