ATI Technologies Inc. president David Orton said on Wednesday he expects the graphics chip maker to return to growth this fiscal year and next, boosted by sales for devices such as mobile phones and digital TVs.
Orton also said ATI will fire its next salvo in the ongoing battle with rival Nvidia Corp. this fall when it launches its newest high-end graphics chip, one it hopes will overshadow Nvidia's recently launched GeForce FX 5900 Ultra.

"Orton also said ATI will fire its next salvo in the ongoing battle with rival Nvidia Corp. this fall when it launches its newest high-end graphics chip, one it hopes will overshadow Nvidia's recently launched GeForce FX 5900 Ultra." its nice when they dont claim that their hardware will be "far superior to antything else" like nvidia tend to do. that way people wont be dissapointed *cough*nv30*cough* |

...it's sort of just a given with them that when they put out a new card it's going to be the very best, where have you been lately? nVidia is the one who's going to have to earn/BUY back their customers trust. |

>>its nice when they dont claim that their hardware will be "far superior to antything else" No, they just come out and openly admit that their hardware in INFERIOR. READ THIS SLOWLY, VEERRRRYYY SLLLOOOOWWWLY >>hopes will overshadow Nvidia's recently launched GeForce FX 5900 Ultra So they are admitting that the 9800 Pro isn't a contender for the NV35. So instead of giving out it's famous "Customer loyalty", they scrap trying to optimise the 9800 Pro and release faster hardware. Nice one ATI, you got my support, lol. What happens when the cash cow, milking of the R3xx core has hit it's limit ? And it's darn close. What are they going to counter the NV40 with, hmm ? Their beloved IQ ? Don't buy their faster superior hardware, we have our IQ, and errr.......Did I mention our IQ ? Hey, why buy a Mclaren F1, when you can buy a pretty BMW. |

Gotta luv an NVidiot for there comments. hmmm lets not mention the almighty NV30 which was rammed down our throats as gods own card getting its arse canned by a card that was already 6-8 months old, and still 12 months later having nothing better actually released. as for R3xx hitting a limit, the high-end cards havnt had to use .13 micron chips yet so theres plenty of room for extra speed and enhacncements. |

You prat. No excuse for this kind of stupity unless you have some vested interest in nVidia. I don't, and so i have the freedom to choose ANY card - regardless of the 'badge' on the box... After owning every nVidia card from the TNT to the GeForce 4 I bought a 9700 pro - and *headline news* it's great. Shocked, I am.. |
