Matt from 3DGPU has posted information that allegedly comes from a Hong Kong's PC Magazine. They have tested ATI's R300 @ Computex last week and found it to be only around 20% faster then Geforce4 Ti4600.

"I found that a Hong Kong Magazine PC Market did talk about the performance of the ATI's new generation card, R300. They said that the performance of the R300 will be about 20% better then Geforce 4 Ti4600, and they did run 3DMark 2001se, however due to under the NDA, they can't tell us the exact number. They test the R300 in the VIA KT400 demo at Taiwan Computex."

and I do remember the tests that showed a Geforce 2 Ultra outperforming a Geforce 3 in DirectX 7 tests. |

In this case I think other hardware is the limiting factor. Hell, even with the Ti4600 people are getting 15000+ in 3dmark2001. Current hardware cannot push the video cards that are coming out. Even if the R300 was on KT400, people on madonion are benchmarking with 3ghz+ cpu's. Until the rest of our hardware gets to that point, releasing video cards that powerful is stupid and buying them is a waste of money. |

you cant count a via demo @ a stand on computex on an unfinished driverset for a trustable test of new hardware... test it again when its out and final... |
