Website Spong once again pours fuel onto the fire of the rumours that Microsoft turned its back on Nvidia in their development process of the upcoming Xbox Next. Spong claims to have received information from a senior source close to Nvidia:
They [Nvidia] simply didn't want to meet Microsoft's demands for the floating design for Xbox Next. It didn't make sense to partner on the project. At this moment in time, ATI is working with Microsoft.

mmmm.... 'They [Nvidia] simply didn't want to meet Microsoft's demands for the floating design for Xbox' . Maybe (and im judging this on the NV35) they couldnt MEET microsofts demands. |

Thats part of it yes, no doubt about it, but nvidia arent exactly doing themselves any favours right now when it comes to hardware and software quality. |

Did you ever stop and think that nVidia might be tired of going to court to collect on a contract that M$ tried to reneg on? |

Yes im sure thats another part of it as well, but even if everything was ok between them, you cant blame microsoft for choosing ATI. |

On the same token, you can't blame nVidia for not wanting to put up with M$ shenanigans again. |

No, not at all...who had to drag who into arbitration to get who to pay per the terms of the mutually agreed contract for XBox chips? Geez... |

Maybe they got a good deal ?? maybe ? Perhaps a better (tighter) contract? Which company is stupid enough to try to pass the FX off as a decent product ? nvidia !! Oh hang on a minute, there are enough stupid people out there who will still buy it. Opps.... |

"Dont bother, BBEA loves nvidia , they can do no wrong. Its the EA part of his name that shows that." I can see that it is hard for you to see anything when you have your head firmly planted... You don't know the first thing about me, but that is pretty typical behavior of forum trolls. I have purchased a 9800 Pro as well as a Ti4600. Just because I have "EA" in my username does not mean I have to support nVidia. I support both companies, ATI and nVidia because they both need to succeed in order for consumers to win. Of course all this is moot because you prefer to attack me without knowing one thing about me other than I have an "EA" in my username and I happen to think that neither ATI nor nVidia are perfect. Next time you feel the need to attempt to discredit me, be sure to find a fact or two to back up your insidious and ridiculous allegations. |

"Some of us have higher standards i guess." Yeah, you have made that VERY clear in this thread....attacking anyone who even remotely likes nVidia or the 5900 cards is really showing off those "higher standards"....MOST impressive... |

You obviously love EA games, ive been to nvnews recently !! You support both companies ?? really ?? When exactly have you said anything nice about ATI ? All ive seen you say is that the 9800 pro 20 % faster than a Ti4600 in Tiger woods, but then go on to say that it doesnt render water or relections properly and base you opinion of the card on that one EA (ie nvidia friendly) game. You come across as intelligent and rational yet still support an almost impossible position. Tell me which chip you believe is the best chip, the R3x0 or the NV3X... |

how about ATI beat Nvidia for the CASH COW BID!!! you know bid? better bid? ATI had the bid that M$ wanted. Nvidia made BIG MAD money on the Xbox gpu, and let them design the gf3 for little money. M$ wanted to change the contract, happens all the time,.... But ATI won the bid because....... DX9 parts Nvidia has NONE. |

"Tell me which chip you believe is the best chip, the R3x0 or the NV3X..." neither the R3x0 nor the nv3x is a chip, they are both architectures. So, please reformulate your question before anyone can answer it... |

If you need me to "enlighten you" then you need to go do some more homework or take off your ATI-colored glasses. It is quite easy to see that NV35 and R350 are very excellent, yet comparable products both having their strong and weak points. If you can't, or better yet REFUSE to see that, then you are not looking at the situation with both eyes open. |

Do you have an FX5900 ? well i do and i can say that there isnt really a good reason to get one. If nvidia can clean up its drivers then maybe but for now, no there is no good reason. The 9800 i have is just as fast and looks better, is cooler, quieter and uses less power. Better 2D is a bonus to. The fx isnt a bad product its just outclassed by the 9x00. If you are a nvidia fan and can forgive all the crap that been happening with the drivers then get one and be happy, it will serve you well. If you are undecided get the radeon. |
