ATI Catalyst 7.83 Drivers Leaked

Well for all the Peeps that missed these drivers there back as Area3d.net removed the drivers due to request and here's a run down on the bad boys by Rage3D.com.

Theres much talk about the latest beta driver release, the 7.83's. It seems that these drivers finally give ATI 16bit FSAA support. Thats right, so go back to your old games and start to enjoy goodness of FSAA. Again, its great to see ATI is committed to giving top notch driver excellence.

It ain't that they were pulled or if this is a repost or not, the big story here should be the fact that Rage3D has these on their frontpage and is hosting them. ;)

Um, correct me if I'm wrong but don't these drivers suck?

It seems to be a bit of a crapshoot as to how they work. Me and me friends over at DH with ATIs didn't have very good luck with 'em, actually we had pretty craptacular results with them....that's why we didn't host them. We didn't think they'd be worth the problems they caused, NONE of us had anything but horrible results with 'em.

But there were some people on Rage3D who seemed to love 'em to pieces, when they worked they REALLY worked well! It seems to mostly be 9700 Pros that like these, I think I've only heard of one 8500 owner who liked 'em. (My 8500 did NOT like them, I lost more than1000 onions and my games were awful. )

If you try 'em, don't try them on any mission critical rigs or PCs you really might want to play games on later...it might just get hosed. Also, bear in mind that these are BETA and not only not officially endorsed by ATI...but ATI would make you take 'em off your hard-drive if they could. (Ok, maybe not that much....but they are REALLY not happy about this leak! )
