Apple Computer plans to announce Monday that it's scrapping its partnership with IBM and switching its computers to Intel's microprocessors, CNET News.com has learned.

They should go with Athlon 64 X2's instead...

Agreed on the Athlon. I wonder though. If, perhaps, Macs will now use Intel processors, will they be capable of running on x86 type systems? I've considered using a Mac, but not if I have to buy all of their hardware as well. A dual boot WinXP/Mac would be very interesting indeed.
