AMD CEO: Intel Is a Monopoly, Microsoft Isn't

In a keynote address this morning to the American Antitrust Institute in Washington, AMD CEO Hector Ruiz gave attendees what he described as "an idea of what it's like to do business day in and day out when you are competing against an abusive monopolist." Although he also invoked the phrase "illegal monopoly," he left a convenient 846-word buffer zone between that phrase and his first invocation of the term "Intel."

I wouldn't say that lol. Hector only has to deal (rather compete) with intel furiously. I bet if they were in software we'd hear a different ring haha. But he's right, intel is the slave master. |

Cry me a freaking river AMD. The only reason I want AMD to go bankrupt is so I wont have to hear them whine and cry about every little thing that Intel does. Sigh... It is not Intel's fault that they can't get creative and market their product. Perhaps they should design a better product then Intel. Perhaps they should sell ATI for a loss so they can have some backup money so they can keep afloat! |

Had nothin to do with marketing strategies back in the Athlon XP and up till last yr with the Athlon 64. They had the superior product, hands down. People wanted to use, but feared they would lose such a massive amount of money due to intel's threats of supply cuts and price hikes. P.S. They've had a better product than intel for so many years now, it's not even funny. Please proceed to thank them for your fast, cheap CPU that you're typing on right now. It doesn't matter if it's inhell or AMD, you owe it to them. AMD: 5 yrs of extraordinary innovation. Intel: no innovation in the past 5 yrs. Hmmmmm..... |

***** that taco eating piece of shit Hector. AMD has had subpar products since the days of the k6-3. All anyone can hope is that they shut down soon and spare Austin their bullshit. |

The key words here...Use to have a better product. That like when they go under...them saying we had a better product at one time. It looks like their success is now in the past. SO THERE!!! LoL... |

The days of having flaky motherboards (VIA their main board of choice in their time), and having to use 3rd party software, drivers, and patches to make AMD processors compatible and work are over! AMD saw their glory for 2 years...and now look where their headed. LOL.. And you call them Superior? |

I'm sorry, I guess HT, int. mem controller, actual dual and quad core designs, creating x64 extensions, etc isn't good enough for you. Intel is so full of themselves that they won't release a product with that until late 2008 (minus the x64 b/c they were forced to copy that already). Go on a rag on them. They are the ones changing the CPU scene. Intel is in AMDs old seat, they're just along for the ride, but continuing to exploit their size advantage so no one can use AMD. VIA???? Oh that's right, b/c intel literally told everyone else and all MB manufacturers that if they made AMD chipsets they could say goodbye to intel and go bankrupt. Yeah, that's totally the way to go about it b/c you can't make a good product. Hey everyone, the gov't also lies and cheats and forces ppl against their will. I think I will go support them too. They are one in the same. Have fun with your slave made CPU (literally). |

X64 CPU's were not need back then. They still are not needed except for server atmospheres. Intel had plans to make them along time ago, same as AMD. The difference here is Intel sat back and let AMD take the risk and they got caught with their pants down. But now AMD didn't do enough research to keep their lead and now they have their pants down and are bent over! The strong survive, the weak die. Economics...did you fail that class? How is outsourcing work to other countries slavery? Do you think it is better for people to be unemployed and have their family's starve vs. employing them so they can bring food to the table? We can't change the fact that countries build factories in other countries. If their currency and wages were the same as the U.S. or the E.U. then why bother. You can thank your government for allowing this. You can also thank the Republicans for letting this get out of control. You can also blame other countries for even existing. LOL...Sounds like the AMD blame game. |
