Alienware Aurora m9700 Notebook with SLI and RAID

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 10/20/2006 02:37 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ] · 989 views

Alienware is the first to market with a SLI and RAID capable notebook. Is the premium price of the Aurora m9700 worth the extra features or are we better off sticking to a desktop for gaming in SLI?

The big feature of the Alienware Aurora m9700 laptop is of course its dual GeForce Go 7900 GS GPUs which makes the Aurora m9700 the fastest game performer we?ve ever tested here on PC Perspective. The dual graphics cards come at the expense of shortened battery life, but it?s an acceptable tradeoff considering the performance gain. We take an indepth look at game performance later in this article in addition to battery tests.

In addition to the dual GPUs, the m9700 has some incredible disk performance thanks to onboard RAID using two internal SATA drives. This makes the m9700 incredibly fast to boot Windows and load large programs like games and office applications.
