I don't give two shits about 3DMark scores but I'll download it to look at the purty graphics.

What the hell is up with that stupid ass counter? Does Futuremark think they are too cool for a normal Days/Hours/Minutes/Seconds counter? Those bastards.

A new low for a benchmark that's next to useless for it's original purpose.

No i wont use 3dmark to compare my PC against others, the IHVs have made sure thats a waste of time. It is good to demonstrate what you PC can do and its useful to compare overclocks.

I never liked the last one. 2001 was entertaining to see and was always cool to run when you got new hardware. The last version was tedious and about as entertaining as watching paint dry.
I'll always prefer games as benchmarks, so if they're going to make an artificial one - at least make it cool.

"so if they're going to make an artificial one - at least make it cool."

I'll second that.

3DMark 99 was the best, 3DMark2001 was alright, 2003 was very dull. And then they made a benchmark for cell phones?
LOL!

What a crock!!!!

It was going to time out at about 6 my time, now it starts with a "W" and is back up to 98000000 !!!!!

I think I'm going back to using FarCry and UT2004 if I really need to know how fast my builds are going.

Someone should nuke those whiney basterds off the earth (Futurmark) cuz all they do is whine whine whine when someone optimizes. But when someone optimizes fora game u dont hear the game company going whine whine whine.

I'm all for optimizing. If it makes the game run better and still look as good as before, let 'em rip!
Hopefully the ATI A.I. is as good as it sounds. Nice to see nVidia come out with something like it as well.
And, would be even better if XGI gets the Vx series into the games!

but not when optmized means less textures are being drawn... which was the entire problem with nvidia half a year ago

one would think that people know the diffrence between optimizing and cheating

Question for all those what good is artificial benchmark

Can u honestly compare ATI vs nVidia when diffrent engines are involved ? thats why u have an artifical benchmark so u will know exactly how each card performs

>>thats why u have an artifical benchmark so u will know exactly how each card performsthat particular engine. So the artificial benchmark is important for seeing how ATI and Nvidia cards perform on that particular artificial benchmark.

While I agree this can be a little valuable in an overall review set, in isolation it's pretty much useless.

So what exactly is your point?

How about using a game instead?
