Anyone expecting the launch of a new version of 3DMark to pass without event was, most likely, kidding themselves. 3DMark has always had an ability to generate hype, excitement and controversy all on its own throughout its lifespan, and 3DMark05 was no exception in this respect. Although the arguments have nowhere near reached the intensity seen with 3DMark03, there are still questions being asked of 3DMark05's methodology when testing.



Which brings us to today's article. The aim of this piece is to examine the controversy in question regarding 3DMark05 upon its launch - Namely the use of DST and PCF as part of the default benchmark.
