As we've already mentioned, and as the numerous naming additions beyond the GeForce 8800 GT label suggest, XFX's offering here is a pretty substantially factory overclocked one. Starting out with the board's G92 core, this finds itself clocked at 670MHz, with a shader clock of 1700MHz, giving it increases of 70MHz and 200MHz respectively. The 512MB of GDDR3 memory on board also gets a boost, up to 975MHz from the reference clock of 900MHz.
Despite those bumps in core and memory clocks, the Alpha Dog XXX Edition sticks with NVIDIA's single slot, reference cooling solution - We'll be checking out GPU temperatures for this board compared to a stock part later. Thus, aside from the killer dog labelled cooler, everything is exactly as you'd expect from a GeForce 8800 GT 512MB; from the six-pin PCI Express power connector and PCI Express 2.0 support, through to the single SLI connector on the top of the board. |
