ThinkPad X301 Reviewed

Posted by: Philipp Esselbach on: 09/19/2008 10:04 AM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ] · 1699 views

A few weeks ago, when Intel’s Montevina rolled into town we saw a number of notebooks refreshed. Every company wanted to move their notebooks to the new platform, and Lenovo was one of the first out of the gate. Almost every ThinkPad received the Centrino 2 treatment, but one that was obviously missing was the flagship X300. This model uses Intel’s ultra-low voltage processor which was not included in the first part of Intel’s Centrino 2 release. The ULV models were rolled out later than the standard mobile processors, which is why we are seeing products like the ThinkPad X301 and HP EliteBook 2530p coming out later than their 14.1 and 15.4-inch counterparts.

In a keynote address this morning to the American Antitrust Institute in Washington, AMD CEO Hector Ruiz gave attendees what he described as "an idea of what it's like to do business day in and day out when you are competing against an abusive monopolist." Although he also invoked the phrase "illegal monopoly," he left a convenient 846-word buffer zone between that phrase and his first invocation of the term "Intel."
